Is The Empowerment Project New?
Yes! It is! Our self-defense programs and workshops have always been super high quality. But with the work we have done to get nationally certified, it was time to up our game and let the world know we have reinvigorated our commitment to providing the best self-defense in Oregon.
The Empowerment Project broadens our audience to include not just women and children but to respond to the changing times and open our classes and workshops up to any person who identifies as part of a vulnerable population.
Our Mission
Research proves that empowerment self-defense programs work. Participants are less fearful, more aware of their boundaries, and are able to speak up sooner when faced with manipulative or threatening situations. Furthermore, for those who have experienced trauma in the past, evidence shows that empowerment self-defense training can interrupt the cycle of violence and decrease the likelihood of a future assault.
We’ve rebranded as a result of all our hard work. It was time to step it up!

The Empowerment Podcast
In order to reach a broader audience, we have launched a self-defense podcast complete with discussion topics, tips, interviews with prominent leaders in the field of self-defense and with survivors of assault. It’s an empowerment self-defense class in your ear. This podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, TuneIn, and here on our website – complete with a transcription so the information is also available to anyone who is deaf. We recommend that you listen in order from #1 on. Sure to inspire!
