Training Path Overview

Welcome! Open the door to a new kind of training.

It’s Different Here

Welcome! Naga (“Naga” means “dragon” in Indonesian) is a rare find for a martial arts and self-defense school in Oregon. The art we train, Poekoelan (pu-ku-lan), comes from Indonesia and is traditional and authentic.  Around since 2003, our community is like none other, where you’ll find equal parts focus, compassion, and grit.

Step through the doorway and onto the mats and the first thing you notice is the “vibe”.

Our training room is chock-full of sweaty faces, sparkling eyes, and wide smiles. You’ll meet people of all ages, body shapes, and ability levels inspired to step beyond self-imposed limits. From the resounding kiyas of students finding the power of their voices to the calm hushed stillness of our quiet meditations, you’ll quickly discover that you feel right at home here regardless of your desired outcome. But that’s not all, you’ll be gifted with instructors who are compassionate, caring, and rely upon positive reinforcement in their guidance. In this rich container, everyone can flourish – and that includes you.

Classes for everyone, regardless of age and rank, meet at the Garden Home Rec Center on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:45 – 7:45 PM. When you register for classes, you’ll hear back directly from Silvia.

I watched my son training and appreciated the art. I wanted to channel my energy and strengthen my body and especially my back. I trained Tai Kwan Do as a kid and knew I wanted something more interesting, with a focus on self-defense. Plus, I heard Naga is really good with kids.

Curious about where this journey might lead your child?

I was looking for something the kids and I could do together and thought something physical would be ideal. And here it’s been 11 years!
